Earlier this week, a man fell into an ice hole in a lake outside Åtvidaberg. Considering the weather forecast for the coming days, fishing guide Håkan Fransson believes that the stability of the ice can be treacherous and emphasizes the importance of the right equipment.
“Should never be alone”
If you are planning a day on the lake, it is important to review your equipment. To be prepared in the event of an accident, Håkan recommends that you bring an ice pick, ice spikes and a couple of spikes.
In addition, a lifeline and clothes packed in a bag can be useful. The most important thing is to have a friend with you who can help if something happens.
– You should never be alone on the ice. With the right equipment, you have cheap life insurance, says Håkan Fransson.
In the video above, Håkan shows why he wouldn’t dare go too far out on the ice at Södra Gryten.
