Between 2022 and 2023, the number of reported fraud crimes increased by a whopping 22 percent, from 195,929 to 238,371, according to crime-preventing counsel.
Whether the number of notifications will also increase in 2024 remains to be seen, but it is clear that the first four months of the year were marked by various fraud alerts from companies and authorities.
The Tax Agency had, in connection with the time for the Swedish people to declare, to warn of scam text messages and the Social Insurance Agency has flagged fraudsters impersonating them in emails.

Postnord’s brand is used in scam emails
Now another brand seems to be exploited by fraudsters: Postnord. Advice & Opinion is warning right now about fake e-mails, which should appear to come from Postnord.

“We were unable to deliver your package because one or more of our conditions were not met. We will hold your package for 24 hours and then return it to the sender. In order for the package not to be returned to the sender, the delivery conditions must be met,” the email states, which also contains a link, which the newspaper has taken notice of.

Postal code: “Delete the message”
When News24 asks Postnord if they have any knowledge that fraudsters are currently using their brand in scam emails, the press service replies:
“Since we have nothing to do with the emails and are not recipients of them, we have no knowledge of when they are sent out.”
At the same time, you refer to the information and advice you have published on Postnord’s website. There, they specifically highlight scam messages with links and emphasize that you never link to payment pages, except when you are to receive a shipment whose sender is outside the EU and which may mean that you need to pay VAT or customs duties. In these cases, however, the links always go to postnord.com or postnord.se.
In other cases, the call is clear:
“Do not click on links if you are not sure where they lead. Instead, delete the message directly without following any link and also do not open any accompanying attachments,” it writes, and at the same time advises recipients against responding to the message.
According to Postnord, anyone who believes they have been the victim of fraud should block their bank card, change their password and contact the police.
