Between 2022 and 2023, the police could see a sharp increase, by as much as 21.9 percent, in reported fraud crimes.
– Frauds that increase in both number and criminal profits are frauds through social manipulation. Since then, the scams seem to have slowed down somewhat. According to the police, the criminal profits from telephone scams have decreased by 40 percent. According to Niclas Anderssondeputy head of the investigation unit at the National Operative Department, it was an “Assignment review” program in SVT – which showed how fraudsters made millions of kroner from elderly Swedes – that became the starting point for a change.
– It was very clear that both the politicians but also the banks and other social actors understood that they had to work more on these issues, he has told TT.

Fraudsters have sent out fake text messages from “Posten Sverige”
But fraud still occurs, of course. On sites such as The security check and Advice & Opinion warnings about fraudsters and the methods they use to trick unsuspecting Swedes out of money are shared every now and then.
And now, on the latter site, reports have been received about hoax text messages that have been sent out. In these, it is claimed that the recipient should receive a package, but that the wrong postal code was entered and that the package could therefore not be delivered. You are therefore asked to update your address information via a link in the message.

The sender? “Posten in Sweden”.
But as many people know, Posten no longer exists. Nowadays, the company is called Postnord. In other words, it is an attempted fraud.
