In today’s developer stream, the Canadian development studio Digital Extremes presented the December update for the popular loot shooter Warframe: Whispers in the Walls. The update adds some new content to the game, including the 55th Warframe as well as the long-awaited Cross Platform Save feature.
What is this new Warframe? The loot shooter’s new Warframe is called Qorvex and is one of Albrecht Entrati’s Void projects. While Qorvex is framed on the outside by a multi-layered concrete skeleton, deadly radiation lies dormant inside. This is also reflected in his abilities.
In total, three of Qorvex’s four abilities are based on the use of concrete or radiation. Here you can see an overview of his four abilities:
In addition to his abilities, Qorvex will appear with a signature weapon called “Mandonel”. This is an arch rifle, a heavy weapon that fires radioactive projectiles.
How do you get the new Warframe? You will receive a blueprint for Qorvex by completing the new “Whispers in the Walls” quest.
If you want to take a first look at the update, you can see the trailer here:
Warframe is finally getting cross-save, but for now only for those who bought the Founder’s Pack
What is this feature? Cross-platform save or cross-save is a long-requested feature by many fans that allows players to use their game progress from one platform (e.g. PlayStation) on another (Steam, Xbox).
According to Digital Extremes, cross-save should be divided into two different actions: account linking and account merging. The latter should only be possible once within a set period of time and cannot be reversed.
In addition to cross-save, there will also be cross-platform trading, which will allow you to trade with players on another platform.
When is cross-save coming? Cross-Save will be released with the release of the upcoming “Whispers in the Walls” update – but with a small catch. In order to release the long-awaited feature as smoothly as possible, Cross-Save will be released in waves.
First, buyers of the Founder package will get access to the cross save. Afterwards there will be individual waves in which the remaining players receive the feature.
It is currently not possible to say precisely when non-founders will ultimately be able to use cross-save. However, Digital Extremes said it wants to make cross-save available to every player by the end of 2023.
Cross-save in Warframe: What happens to platform-specific content?
As the developers of Warframe revealed, there will be some restrictions when merging accounts. For example, there should be some platform-specific content that cannot be transferred when merging accounts.
Digital Extremes explains more information about cross-save and how exactly platform-specific content is handled on the game’s official website at warframe.com.
What else does the update bring? Whispers in the Walls doesn’t just stop at the new Warframe Qorvex and the introduction of cross-save, but rather ushers in the next big narrative chapter and represents the start of a new main threat.
In keeping with this, there will be a new secondary weapon called Grimoire, which is intended to use the power of the Void. Added to this is the introduction of the new Tennokai technique, which allows you to perform heavy melee attacks without using up your combo meter. In order to use the Tennokai technique, you need to find mods that support this technique.
The update will also include a new enemy type called “Murmur”, three new game modes and the Prime form for Gauss. The latter will not appear with the “Whispers in the Walls” release in December, but rather in January.
By the way, Digital Extremes is currently working on a new game: Warframe developers announce F2P MMORPG, convince fans with epic trailer – “I’m so hyped for it”
