Destiny 2 players haven’t forgotten, and now they’re taking a moving action to honor their lost hero, Commander Zavala, at Guardian Games 2023.
Why are Guardians planning this action? In March 2023, Lance Reddick, the voice of Commander Zavala and “John Wick” star, died unexpectedly at the age of 60. Even then, the Guardians, especially the Titan class, showed their sympathy in the game of vigils, commemorating a great actor who was one of them.
In those days, the idea was born that Lance Reddick should be memorialized at the 2023 Keeper Games. Because if the Titans win, Bungie will commemorate it with a gold plating of the Titan icon on the Guardian Games statue for 1 year.
The guardian games have been running since this week and the players have not forgotten their plans.
Guardians urge you to join the action: Well-known Destiny 2 streamers like GernaderJake and Uhmaayyze already believe in a victory for the titans. Others, such as Knitehawk, encouraged active implementation of this tribute under the credo “We are doing this for Commander Zavala”.
We’re doing this for Commander Zavala! I’m competing in the Guardian Games Cup as a Titan. The best TITAN content you’ve ever seen awaits!

Even non-Titan main players want to get in on the action and honor Reddick’s memory by playing in-game as a representative of the class that represents Zavala.
But is the Titan even the right class? Some Guardians noted that Lance Reddick was actually more of a Warlock player after all. There is also a video where you can see how the actor in Destiny 2 is traveling with his warlock.
However, if you look at Lance Reddick’s profile at Bungie and his gameplay becomes clear, in Lightfall it was again the Titan he spent most of his time in-game with. So it was with him like with many other Guardians: You gamble the class that is strong or brings you the most fun.
But it’s safe to say that Lance Reddick was a real titan nonetheless. Because as Commander Zavala, he has touched the hearts of the Guardians more than once – even outside of his official job at Bungie.
What does this mean for the Guardian Games 2023? The request to only play one class could therefore have an impact on the Olympic competition in Destiny 2 in 2023. Because the games could be a pure homage to Commander Zavala and Lance Reddick this year.
The Titans are currently in the lead. But it is unclear whether this will also work in the next 3 weeks of the event:
What do you think about it? Should Destiny 2 Guardians only play the Titan class in Guardian Games 2023 to honor Commander Zavala? Or should they try at all costs to win the different categories with their favorite class? Please write us your opinion in the comments.
