In Ukraine, the number of suspected Russian war crimes currently being investigated amounts to over 21,000. According to Ukrainian Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova, these are unbelievably brutal abuses against civilians who are subjected to rape, torture and kidnapping.
According to her, it is only a matter of time before justice catches up with the perpetrators, but the investigations are difficult and time-consuming.
Great risks to return
At the same time, many Ukrainians take great risks when returning to their homes. Of Barvinkove, located in southeastern Ukraine, only ruins and dirty debris remain. The Russian attacks do not diminish in strength.
