Wants highly trained staff from Northvolt to avoid supply requirements: “Important for the green transition”

Several people are at risk of being deported from Sweden after they lost their jobs at Northvolt. This is due to the government’s rules on temporary work permits and subsistence requirements.

In connection with a Meet and Match event for those made redundant, Skellefteå municipality conducted a survey which showed that 90 percent of third-country nationals had at least a three-year university education.

Due to the rules on temporary work permits, these people may have to leave the country within 0-3 months if they do not find a new job.

– It is important for the green transition that is taking place that we can keep the people Skellefteå managed to attract to Northvolt, says Helene Hellmark Knutsson.

Those who are not highly educated are not included?

– Not in this exception we called for, because it is the highly educated people Sweden lacks, says Helene Hellmark Knutsson.
