Two men were stopped with close to 110 cases of beer, 158 liters of spirits and 30 liters of wine in their car at customs in Gothenburg in August. The men, who are in their 70s and natives of Värmland, explained that they were going to bunker down to last the winter, writes Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.

The two men had bought the alcohol together in Germany.

In addition to drinking over the winter, the men announced that the goods were also for birthday celebrations and for inviting visiting friends.

Since the Swedish Customs Administration assesses that the alcohol was not acquired for personal use, it is not returned.

The men must pay transport supplements of SEK 7,162 and SEK 9,465, respectively.
