Many women do not dare to wear sneakers for fear of losing their elegance. But a pair of shoes, inspired by a shoe with undisputed chic, presents itself as the perfect solution. Brigitte Macron could even adopt it, who knows?
Sneakers are on the feet of all celebrities, whether they work in artistic or more codified spheres. Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Kate Middleton and Brigitte Macron: they are all fans. In fact, the latter often wears sneakers during her official outings as first lady. But if the former French teacher wears this streetwear classic with unparalleled know-how and elegance, some of us still don’t dare to take the plunge.
Good news! A brand has had the idea of offering a sneaker model that blends perfectly with another more elegant pair of shoes: the moccasin. This hybrid model aims to bring a modern twist to city shoes usually reserved for the professional wardrobe. It was designed by the American sports equipment manufacturer New Balance, with the help of Japanese designer Junya Watanabe, who worked for the “Comme des Garçons” house. Called “Snoafer 1906L”it combines the refinement of the moccasin and the comfort of the sneaker. The best of both worlds.
The model, which combines white and gray colors, easily matches sober and elegant colors such as navy blue (in vogue this season), black, white or even red. On the Fashion Sphere side, it is rumored that the model will also be available in black.
In terms of styling, it can easily be paired with a suit to break the overly sophisticated side, with a dress to bet on the feminine-casual combo, or with jeans, a polo shirt, and a blazer, to play the simplicity card like Brigitte Macron. According to our colleagues at Sneaker Sitethe pair should be released this Monday, September 16 in France. The sale price remains unknown on the retailer’s website. But our colleagues at GQ USA estimates that the black version will be available at a price of $160, or around 145 euros.
Of course, this creative proposal is not only getting followers. In the press and on the internet, from the Daily Mail to the Wall Street Journal, criticism is flying. Some internet users are even going so far as to call it “shoes for feet from 1983.”*
But in reality, any piece is out of fashion until a celebrity adopts it and puts it on their feet. So, will we soon see it on Brigitte Macron or on crowned heads?
