As rehabilitation work continues, the Murray Street bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic until May 1, starting Wednesday of this week.
Landform Civil Infrastructures Ltd. has been working on the structure over the Sydenham River since December.
One sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian traffic for the duration of the closure, municipal officials stated in a release Tuesday afternoon.
The first detour includes: Murray Street, McNaughton Avenue, Wellington Street and Margaret Avenue. The second detour includes: Murray Street, Queen Street, Gillard Street, McNaughton Avenue, James Street, Margaret Avenue and Wellington Street
For the remainder of the rehabilitation, the bridge will not be operable for larger boats, but smaller boats that do not require the bridge to be opened will be accommodated.
The bridge will be operational by May 15, coinciding with the beginning of the navigation season, officials added.
All efforts will be made to reduce the impact on the surrounding areas. People are urged to use caution by adhering to the safety requirements and staying outside of the construction zone.
