A 52-year-old Wallaceburg woman is facing charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance on Terry Street in Wallaceburg just after 7 am Sunday.
Police learned there had been an altercation between two women where one woman allegedly spat on the other.
The accused was located a short time later and arrested, police said.
While being searched during the arrest, police said suspected methamphetamine was found on the accused.
She was charged was assault and possession of a controlled substance and later released with a Dec. 8 court date.
Chatham woman facing impaired driving load
A 37-year-old Chatham woman is facing an impaired driving charge after Chatham-Kent police responded to a motor vehicle crash just after 4 am Monday.
Police said the vehicle was traveling east on Riverview Drive and failed to negotiate a right turn onto Merritt Avenue. The vehicle jumped the curb and struck a tree on Merritt Avenue, police added.
Officers believed the woman was driving her car while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested. The woman was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
Police said the accused was charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released with conditions and a Nov. 21 short date.
