Wallaceburg man accused of shoplifting

Man charged with domestic offenses

On Saturday morning, Chatham-Kent police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart in Wallaceburg for a shoplifting complaint.

A man allegedly concealed several items and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise, police said.

An officer on general patrol located the man a short distance away and he was arrested. The identity of the suspect was verified by store security, police added.

The 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. He was later released from custody with a short date.

Theft charge in Chatham

Police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart on St. Clair Street in Chatham on Saturday afternoon.

A man allegedly concealed items and left the store without making any attempt to pay. The suspect was known to one of the store employees, police said.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was located and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
