Wallaceburg business awards finalists announced

The Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce has announced its finalists for its upcoming awards ceremony.

The 26th-annual Business and Community Excellence Awards will be held Nov. 8 at 5 pm at the CBD Club in Wallaceburg.

The event will include a dinner from Burns Catering. The theme this year is the 1950s and ’60s.

This year, the nominees were made online and by a nominees committee who wishes to remain anonymous, and by a judging panel from outside of the Wallaceburg area, a news release from the chamber said.

The Wallaceburg chamber hosts the event, but has no part in choosing the winners or nominees, the release said.

This year’s finalists include:

Agricultural Award: Agris Co-operatives; The Jennen Strawberry Family Farm; and VanDamme Transportation

Business of the Year: GLasstown Brewing Co.; Splash Pools Plus; and Wallaceburg Martial Arts

Chip Gordon Citizen of the Year: Kinsmen Club of Wallaceburg; Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame; and Tri Shores ATV Club

Entrepreneur(s) of the Year: A. Childs Homestead (Adam Childs); Tropical Tan & Palm Tree Boutique (Michelle Lajoie); and Your Hometown Deli

Legacy Award: Gary Caroll; Crystal Babbitt; and Clarence Field

Industrial Award: DeMall Group Inc.; 1 SourceDesign; and Ritch-Meyer Machine Tool

Technology Award: All Ears; Glassford Productions; and Par72 Golf Lounge

Volunteer of the Year: Mike Hindmarsh; Julie VanDamme; and Henry Vanharen

Women in Business: Erin Burnett – All Occasion Gifts & More; Melissa Gaylor – Beef Meatz Bun; and Kelly Hetherington

Young Professional Award: Kasidy DeWulf – Sales Rep Realty House Inc. Brokerage; Martha Fehr – The Chip Co.; and Tanner Havens – 99.1FM

Wallaceburg BIA Award: Ryan Strong

CKXS 99.1FM will be the MC for the event.
