The Walpurgis celebration is in full swing. In the student cities of Lund and Uppsala, where thousands of people have gathered, the celebration has been going on since early this morning.
– I have been here since half past two in the morning, says Sara Filipsdotter to TV4 Nyheterna, who is on site in Lund.
Valborg brings warmth and it remains for the first few days of May in large parts of the country. In the student cities of Uppsala and Lund, where the celebration is big, it is expected to be 18 degrees and mostly sunny during the day.
In Uppsala, the Walpurgis celebration is in full swing. Hundreds of people had gathered at Fyrisån during the morning to see the traditional rafting that is held at the end of April every year.
Uppsala resident Britta is on site by the river and she expects a wonderful folk festival.
– I have celebrated Valborg here for almost my entire life, she tells Nyhetsmorgon.
However, Britta herself has never participated in the competition.
Thousands gathered in Lund
Even in the student city of Lund, thousands of happy Walborg celebrants have gathered at the city park.
Sara Filipsdotter has come all the way there from Stockholm to celebrate.
– The weather is a little nicer here than Uppsala, it is closer to the equator, she says.

Sara tells us that she has been celebrating since half past two in the morning on Tuesday. She has a well-thought-out strategy to keep going, and gives her best tips.
– When I feel tired, I get up and dance in the middle of the batter, then I get my energy back.
– It is an important balancing act between food, water and alcohol. You should eat very good food, pasta is good. You should also drink a lot of water, especially when it’s sunny like this outside.
But power naps are also important, she adds.
– We have put the next planned power nap at 2 p.m. into the schedule.
