The construction of the Wakkerendijk roundabout is part of the Poort van Baarn project, which provides better traffic safety and better traffic flow on the N221 in the northwestern part of Baarn. The study on the approach to the current Wakkerendijk T-junction was the first to be completed, with a roundabout proving to be the best solution to improve visibility and safety at the intersection, according to the province.
