Wagner chief Impregnable fast in Bachmut

Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin does not believe that the disputed city of Bakhmut in Ukraine will fall into Russian hands in the next few days.

It is reported from Ukraine that Russia has taken “some land” in the city.

“Bachmut has not yet been taken. There is a suburb called ‘Samolet’. It is an impregnable fort formed by a number of residential blocks located in the southwestern part of Bachmut. The fiercest battles are going on there,” he writes on the Telegram messaging service, reports the AFP news agency.

The Russian mercenary group is leading the Russian assault on the city, which has been going on for months.

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar states that Russian forces have taken “some ground” inside Bachmut, writes Sky News. The statement comes shortly after Ukraine stated that the country has regained land in recent days.

But despite Russia’s successes, the country still does not have control over the city, says Maliar.

The Battle of Bachmut is the bloodiest and most protracted so far in the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian side states that it has recently retaken areas in the northern and southern outskirts, while the Russian side is advancing in the central parts.
