In 1916, in Texas, a women’s rights activist investigates the lynching of Jesse Washington, a young black man accused of murdering a white woman. A moving and engaging comic strip story.

For the general public, “Waco” first evokes the death of the 82 followers of the Davidian sect in 1993 around the guru David Koresh. But this Texas town was also the scene of another terrible episode in 1916: the lynching of Jesse Washington, a young black man accused of murdering a white woman.

From the investigation that revealed the horror, our guests of the day have made an astonishing comic book album. A documented story around a true story and a heroine who really existed, but narrated with strong colors and very strong drawings, with the dramatic tension and suspense of fiction, including with a small dose of humor squeaky.

“Waco Horror, Elisabeth Freeman, the infiltrator” is a comic strip by Lisa Lugrin, Clement Xavier and Stephane Soularue is published by Glénat editions.
