It took some getting used to during the first council meeting of Wijk Bij Duurstede. Councilors Sybren Van der Velden – Walda, Steven Verhaar and Wout Slijper submitted a motion as VVD members, but when a vote had to be taken, they were addressed as Local Liberal. “We are not going to take a completely different course,” explains party leader Van der Velden – Walden. “We just no longer support the VVD as a national party.”
