No stage on the Vuelta this Monday, September 4 before the highly anticipated time trial on Tuesday.
At the end of the 9th stage of the Vuelta between Cartagena and Caravaca de la Cruz, the first week of the Tour of Spain ended with the American Sepp Kuss as leader ahead of the Spaniard Marc Soller and the young Frenchman Lenny Martinez, red jersey for two days. Among the favorites, the Belgian Remco Evenepoel is the best ranked overall with a 4th place, 2’22 behind Kuss and 7 seconds ahead of Roglic and 11 over the last winner of the Tour de France Jonas Vingaard.
The gaps and the classification could be upset on Tuesday with a highly anticipated time trial. The Belgian Evenepoel, world champion in the discipline, could take off overall, he who believes he was “one of the best” during the 1st week. “My first week? It’s just a shame to have had this bad day because of my injuries. Because otherwise I think I was one of the best. We are good in the general classification, I will go on the counter -the watch with good sensations”

The Vuelta traditionally takes place after the Tour de France. For its 78th edition, the start of the Tour of Spain has been scheduled for August 26, of Barcelona, capital of Catalonia, more than a month after the arrival of the Tour de France (July 23). The finish of the Tour of Spain was set three weeks later, on September 17, in Madrid.
Holder of the TV rights to the French and Italian classics as well as the three grand tours (GiroTour de France, Vuelta), the group Eurosport has been appointed to broadcast all the stages of the Tour of Spain 2023 on its channels.
