Vreeswijk celebrates the 650th anniversary of the Oude Sluis

In 1373 the lock looked very different, says Henk Valkenet, chairman of the Historische Kring in Nieuwegein. Despite the fact that he is not a purebred Vreeswijker, he is still devoted to the lock. “I didn’t drink from the vortex, as it is called. But just looking at the photos makes me happy.”
