The weather has changed and it’s racing speed on the tire changes at the companies. But despite the snow and ice, not everyone switches to winter tires – some keep their so-called all-year tires on.
Volvo sells the tire type with new car models and markets it as an all-season tire. But in tests carried out by us car owners, the tire had more than doubled the braking distance on ice when compared to a studless winter tyre.

Volvo does not want to answer questions about the tire in an interview, but answers by email: “The tires are certified/approved for year-round use… However, our absolute recommendation is to always change to winter tires when driving where there is a risk of snowy/icy surfaces. “
Avoid misunderstandings
Volvo has recently changed its wording about the tires. Previously, they wrote that if you drive many miles on snow and ice, you should supplement the order with winter tires. Now the company has changed to “if you drive on snow and ice, you must have winter tires”. Volvo writes to TV4 Nyheterna that they changed to avoid misunderstandings.
