Volunteers needed for Together CK grant review committee

Chatham-Kent needs two volunteers to join the Together CK grant program review committee to help determine funding for community projects.

The municipal grant matching program provides 50 per cent funding to community groups for events and projects. A review committee of municipal and community volunteers evaluates applications and makes funding recommendations to council, a release said.

The committee ensures grant funds are distributed fairly and effectively and that funded projects align with community priorities, the release said. Volunteers get to learn more about the community’s needs and contribute to its growth and development.

“We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in our community,” review committee chairperson Fannie Vavoulis said in the release. ‘It’s an excellent opportunity to give back and help ensure that our community’s needs are met.

“I cannot overstate the importance of the municipal grant program and the incredible work of the volunteers who make up the grant review committee,” Mayor Darrin Canniff said.

“The grants. . . are essential to supporting local events, initiatives, and projects that make our community a better place to live, work, and visit.”

Volunteers will be selected based on experience, skills, and expertise. The committee is seeking individuals with a finance, social services, or other relevant background.

Applicants must be Chatham-Kent residents, of legal age and able to attend monthly meetings.
