In a new documentary we meet the British adventurer Bear Grylls who travels into the war-torn Ukraine to find out what life is like for the Ukrainian population, how they manage to live on, when their home has been turned into a war zone.

Rarely meets the family

Among other things, he meets the war journalist Alina and the soldier Alexander, and has a frank chat with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelenskyj can rarely see his family, which is particularly difficult for his nine-year-old son, who needs his father, he says.

– My son told me: “I am strong, I can handle it.” Do your job,” he says.

Children’s impact of the war in Ukraine

His son is far from alone in being affected by the war, Zelensky notes that children across the country have been forced to grow up fast.

– This war has changed our people and our children. They are not children, they are adults, he says.
