The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenzky is expected in Paris this Friday, June 7, he will deliver a speech from the hemicycle of the National Assembly.

Friday June 7, Emmanuel Macron will receive his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the Elysée, the day after the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. The President of Ukraine will first be welcomed by the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet at 9:30 a.m. at the Hôtel de Lassay, then he will deliver a speech to the deputies around 9:50 a.m.

“Provide unwavering support to the Ukrainian people”

Volodymyr Zelensky will be received by Emmanuel Macron this Friday to discuss “Ukraine’s needs” vis-à-vis Russia, the French presidency announced on Tuesday. The opportunity “to reaffirm France’s determination to continue to provide, over the long term and with all of its partners, unfailing support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people” specifies the Elysée. The President of the Republic is expected to make new announcements on the occasion of the visit of his Ukrainian counterpart to Paris. The sending of French soldiers and military instructors to Ukraine is not excluded.

Visit to a site of the KNDS arms group

The Ukrainian president will also visit with the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, a site of the Franco-German arms group KNDS in Versailles (Yvelines). According to information from JDDthis visit should be the subject of exchanges between Lecornu and the chief of staff of the French armies, Pierre Schill, in order to consider options for supporting Ukraine.

KNDS being one of the main European players in land weapons, it notably manufactures battle tanks, artillery systems and Caesar cannons that France delivers to kyiv. KNDS will set up in Ukraine after an agreement between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron for local production in Ukraine of spare parts and ammunition. In fact, Volodymyr Zelensky will be present in France from this Thursday, June 6. He will attend the ceremonies commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy.
