It also included drivers’ sensitive GPS data. It is reported that the server in question remained open for months until it was closed. The vehicle’s battery status and other technical data are also included. As reported by Spiegel, affected car owners include German politicians, entrepreneurs, the Hamburg police department (Location of electric police vehicles used) and even intelligence service employees are also included. Cariad, the software company directly owned by VW Group, is behind this incident. In its statement, the company states that the drivers’ passwords or payment information were not stolen through the open server.
