The inhabitants of Grindavik, Iceland, about three kilometers south of the site of the volcanic eruption on Monday, have been allowed to return and spend the night.
The 4,000 inhabitants were evacuated on November 10 after several earthquakes and the risk of imminent volcanic eruptions. On Monday, there was an outbreak that initially looked like it could have dramatic consequences. It is now considered to have ended, but the danger is not completely over.
Grindavik is close to four kilometers from the capital Reykjavik.
