The autocratic president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, appears today in the annual TV program, where he answers pre-selected questions from the citizens.
The event is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Finnish time.
In addition to promoting the position of the president, the program promises comfort for Russians struggling with everyday problems.
As in previous years, the Kremlin announced well in advance that it would collect questions and messages from ordinary citizens to the president, which it says have so far received more than 1.5 million.
According to the Kremlin, this year’s event is a combination of the propaganda show that ran in Russia called Direct line with Vladimir Putin and Putin’s press marathon, which is usually organized at the end of the year.
Before the war of aggression started by Russia, Putin held two similar events a year. Since the beginning of the attack, the number of appearances has been reduced by half for the second year in a row. Putin has held similar events since 2001.
In previous years, the event has lasted several hours. Last year, the event lasted more than four hours.
This year, Russian state TV channels have reserved about three hours of time for live broadcasts, says someone close to the Kremlin Flight news site.
