Vivo is back on top in the Chinese smartphone market with a 19 percent market share. The brand, which is also present in Turkey, continues to grow.
The company stated the following on this matter: “According to a recent report by global technology analytics company Canalys, Apple lost its place among the top five smartphone suppliers in China in the second quarter of this year due to increasing competition from domestic brands such as vivo. The report revealed that Apple’s market share in China fell from 15 percent to 14 percent in the second quarter. Canalys Research Analyst Lucas Zhong noted that this was the first quarter in history when domestic Chinese manufacturers shared the entire top five positions. Vivo returned to the top with a 19 percent market share and 13.1 million units shipped, driven by e-commerce activities that took place in the middle of the year from April to June and online and offline sales during the campaign period. Oppo maintained its second place with 11.3 million units, while Honor came in third with 10.7 million units shipped and 4 percent annual growth. Huawei, which was not among the top five brands last year, came in fourth with a 15 percent market share and 10.6 million units shipped.

Taking advantage of the technology press’s announcement that vivo ranked first by sharing its second-quarter market share data, vivo held a special photo event in Qinghai Province, China. At the event, it was announced that vivo’s next flagship X200 series, equipped with its own self-developed Blue Print imaging technology, will be introduced for the first time. Blue Print imaging technology will use the company’s own self-developed VCS 3.0 technology and will be the next-generation flagship main camera sensor defined together with its business partners.
This sensor uses an advanced 22nm manufacturing process and will be the industry’s first True-TCG HDR-enabled sensor. This will further enhance HDR preview and HDR video effects. In addition, the new-generation Blue Print algorithm matrix will enhance long-focus shooting capabilities and integrate more than 1 billion parameters into the imaging model, making it the largest image production model on vivo phones. The new “Blue Print imaging chip” will be introduced next year and will provide improved backlight and night portrait shooting experiences with advanced AI portrait algorithms.
In addition, vivo predicts that three major trends in imaging technologies will emerge in the future: Visual security, 3D imaging/XR, and health. In terms of visual security, vivo will provide immutable metadata for each photo and video, so that the source and authenticity of the images can be tracked. In the future, vivo also aims to establish a transparent and reliable content creation and sharing ecosystem by collaborating with security applications and service providers.
“The vivo X100 Ultra introduces a new 3D imaging feature for 3D imaging/XR, which is also expected to be included in the X200 series. Additionally, vivo is also scheduled to introduce MR (mixed reality) wearables next year.”
