After the fatal accident at Gröna Lund, the testimonies are pouring in.
Aftonbladet has spoken to several visitors who raised the alarm about Jetline in the days and hours before the derailment:
– My daughter came home and said she never wants to ride it again. I don’t feel safe with her going back to Gröna Lund, says Nathalie Ericsson, mother of 14-year-old Nicole.
After Sunday’s fatal accident at Gröna Lund, several readers contacted Aftonbladet and testified about problems with Jetline in the days before the derailment.
Opened the jumpers with a bar
Mattias Ariola works in home care and rode Jetline about a week before the accident.
– I had an escort with a customer and was there all day. At the end we went Jetline. During the final stretch to enter the pit, the entire carriage locks up.
It was a dramatic “rescue operation”.
– Four members of the staff had to open the jumpers by hand with a metal rod. Then we had to jump out and walk the rest of the way. I had a guy with me who was semi-paralyzed, so it was problematic.
Went with a loose jumper
Nathalie Ericsson gave her 14-year-old daughter Nicole a gold card at Gröna Lund as a birthday present. The weekend before the accident, she was there, just like so many times before during the summer.
– This time she came home and was cut. The staff had to stand and press down on the jumper for a long time before it clicked.
But they obviously didn’t push hard enough.
– Then it let go during the ride. She came home and said she never wants to ride it again. It doesn’t feel good at all. I don’t feel safe with her going back to Gröna Lund.
“Worst cart that day”
A father who wishes to remain anonymous was at Gröna Lund and went Jetline at midsummer with his family.
– We had ridden it many times that day. But the last time they were pushing the front of it, like it was crooked.
In addition, there was something strange during the journey.
– We joked about it when we left. That it was the worst cart of the whole day. In hindsight, we should have said something, but we didn’t think of that at the time.
“Heard a bang”
Just minutes before disaster struck last Sunday, Kimmy Groot and her friends were riding the Jetline.
– We thought it felt unusually bumpy and strange. It’s hard to explain, but something felt wrong. Then my partner went too and he said the same thing and also his jumper wasn’t attached properly. But we didn’t think too much about it. It’s an old roller coaster.
As they stand and talk about the strange experience, the accident happens.
– Only two to three minutes later we heard a bang. We saw the wheel fly through the air and all of a sudden lots of people started running from the line.
Got bruises
The day before, Saturday, Nathalie Inci had brought the whole family to Gröna Lund.
– I really like the Jetline so I rode it several times. But it shook so much. Swinging back and forth. The children felt the same.
In addition, she reacted to the fact that no one checked that the jumper was attached.
– There were so many people so I don’t think they had time.
The ride gave a bruise as a souvenir.
– I felt how the legs moved all the time and how the body went back and forth. It hurt my head so much I couldn’t sleep at night.
