Violent protests at the parliament in Georgia

Thousands of protesters clashed with police outside the parliament building in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Tuesday evening.

The police use both tear gas and water cannons.

The demonstrators are protesting against the new law, which is expected to be hammered through, where organizations and media are forced to register as “foreign agents”. The law is designed, much like the Russian one, where it was used to silence independence.

The protests outside parliament have continued for days with thousands of protesters gathering in the streets around the building. But the unrest escalated on Tuesday evening.
