Dozens of IS jihadists are said to have been killed in fierce battles in Puntland in Somalia.
This since the heavily armed IS militia attacked a military base in two steps.
Government forces in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland in Somalia fought back the IS attacks. After 24 hours in the mountainous area, it is announced that about 65 jihadists were killed.
“The enemy was defeated in both directions,” says Mohamud Faadhigo, spokesperson for Puntland’s army.
The master, who wants to be anonymous, tells AFP that the fighting began with a car filled with explosives detonated and several suicide bombers blasted.
In recent months, the local Armed Forces in Puntland have carried out several operations against the Jihadist group IS, in some cases with the support of US flight.
In recent years, Somalia has emerged as a seat for extremist ice. Here lives, among other things, Abdulkadir Mumin, who has been identified as IS’s new global leader. Sheikh Mumin is known for his hard rhetoric and has lived in Hjällbo in Gothenburg for many years with his wife and daughter. He is now the operational spider in the network for IS provinces – including those in Syria and Africa and IS Khorasan in Afghanistan, according to terrorist researchers.
