It turned violent when thousands of protesters in Argentina clashed with riot police outside Vice President Cristina Kirchner’s home in Buenos Aires on Saturday night.

The protesters stormed the police cordons and the police deployed water cannons. At least five police officers were injured and four protesters were arrested, the BBC reports.

The protesters have been gathering outside Kirchner’s residence for several days to show their support during the ongoing trial. She is charged with corruption during the time she was Argentina’s president from 2007-2015, and prosecutors are demanding twelve years in prison and that 69-year-old Kirchner be barred from all political positions for life if she is convicted.
