Protesters in Tel Aviv blocked a key road intersection as part of anti-government protests. A recurring demand was new elections and direct measures to free the people held hostage in Gaza.
The demonstrators, who also gathered in Jerusalem, Haifa, Beer Sheva and Caesarea, demanded, among other things, that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leave his office and be replaced, reports the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the prime minister’s residence in Jerusalem.
