A second-hand clothing resale platform, Vinted has for the first time taken first place in the ranking of the French’s favorite brands in the adult fashion sector in 2024, beating Zalando and especially H&M, Zara and Kiabi, according to the traditional annual study by the EY-Parthenon firm. All sectors combined, it is the Dutch hard discounter Action which is ahead of Decathlon and Leroy Merlin for the second year in a row.

Ten years of presence in France

Both arrived in our country around ten years ago, these companies alone symbolize the changes in our consumption patterns. Inflation, first of all, reinforced and consolidated their place in the daily lives of the French. At Action, the average price of the 6,000 products on the shelves does not exceed 2 euros. Vinted, for its part, has 23 million registered users in France and is among the most visited online commerce sites alongside Amazon, Leboncoin and Cdiscount. Faced with its success and in a ready-to-wear sector in crisis, the brands have almost all converted to second hand, proof that the breakthrough of the Lithuanian platform is not a fad. In addition to the wallet, environmental considerations are more important than ever when renewing your wardrobe. And the legislation in force could soon become tougher. Vinted can rub its hands.
