Selling a thing with a girl?
Ingela Widén, 52, is successful with her cranky outfits on the selling app Vinted.
– This thing about daring to be ugly is pretty important, I think, she says.
Ingela Widén, who lives around the Växjö area, started selling old clothes at Vinted in early September last year.
Now she has become a kind of “winter” celebrity.
The first thing she would put for sale was an old rain hat for children.
– I didn’t know how to foot it so I hung it on my own head. It thought people were fun. After that I started with wigs and a little bit like that, says Ingela Widén.
Everyday she works as a theater educator in Älmhult and at home the theater -interested family has a lot of props lying down.

Called “Vinted-Madonna”
She began to post ads where she posed with fun glasses, wigs and masquerade.
Then it took off.
– I didn’t think it would be such a great response at all. I have received a lot of hot emails from people who just say how happy they were or that they made even a day. Then it suddenly has a completely different purpose, says Ingela Widén.
At Tiktok, her account has been noticed. “Whose mom to Queen is this on Vinted,” writes one user on the platform and another has given her the nickname “Vinted-Madonna”.
– They think it is cool and important to be able to be yourself. I have seen how others at Vinted have asked if they can mimic my idea. I have seen other women who have started to put out clothes and are models themselves. It may not matter if there is an extra stomach here and there. It is important for the body complex with, she says and continues:
– It has become much more important than I thought.

So much she earns in the app
Ingela Widén earns no big bulbs on the app even though she has sold about 400 products since she started.
The garments she upload is between SEK 20 and 30 and she aims to sell for SEK 1,000 a month.
When she has not uploaded a funny picture for the ad, she notices that the algorithms do not like it.
– When it’s the boring clothes, there are almost no views at all, she says.
At the time of writing, she has over 1,700 followers on the app that have exploded in popularity since it was launched in Sweden in 2022.

She believes that her outfits are a recipe for success on the second hand platform.
– I stand out well as many focus only on the garments. Sometimes you wear them but you often do not show your face or anything more. This thing about daring to be ugly is pretty important, I think, says Ingela Widén.
– It’s good that it’s different. There are often not flattering pictures. It is not me who sells the garments.
