Vintage bicycle show comes to Burford

After a pause for the pandemic, the Canadian Vintage Bicycle Show returns this year with a new name and location.

Organizer Jamie McGregor has renamed the show – now in its 19th year – the Burford Bicycle Bonanza. And it will be held at the Burford fairgrounds instead of at a Tutela Heights Road farm, as in past years.

“We have a 7,000-square-foot building now, so we’re rain or shine now,” said McGregor. “People can see bicycles from 1880-1980. It’s a big sale-and-swap meet.”

This year the show will span two days, with vendors arriving and setting up at 10 am on June 25. The main show will be June 26 from 7 am to 3 pm

Ticket holders are welcome to attend both days, McGregor said.

“We have a lot of great people coming, and, hopefully, new vendors and enthusiasts,” he noted. “A couple of guys from Montreal are coming with a trailer full of stuff.”

McGregor said he expects a lineup of people ahead of the gates opening on June 26.

“The frenzy will happen quickly with the collectors.”

Tickets, valid for both days, are $10 per person and $30 for vendors. Children under 12 are free.

Tickets can be purchased upon arrival at the gates.

McGregor said proceeds will benefit the Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford, which has received almost $40,000 from bicycle shows over the past decade.
