Vimpelin Veto took their first shot at the men’s Superpesis championship by defeating Tampere Manse PP 2–0 (3–1, 6–3) on their home field on Saturday.

Veto, which was undefeated at home throughout the season, continued the same pace in the opening match of the final series. The solution to the commotion was an outside game in which Manse made several radical flipper mistakes.

The joker who sank the biggest bomb into Mansen’s field in this second period with a four-run shot from the start Jukka-Pekka Vainionpää. Vainionpää, who hit a total of five runs, was naturally satisfied.

– The shot was planned, now we got a good bounce in our direction, which really doesn’t hurt. Otherwise, the inside game of both was a bit tight, the match was tight, Vainionpää summed up.

Mansen’s first man was a two-run wildcard Perttu Ruuska. He returned to the home arena of his team Veto for the second time.

– We had already played in the regular season, so there was no tension in that sense. The end result of the game is of course sad. We still had some successes, I feel confident about the continuation, although we need to be able to improve especially in the indoor game, Ruuska reflected.

Bet game manager Tomi Niskanen was satisfied.

– It was a great atmosphere, the audience was very involved. However, the game was not a key performance from us, especially at the beginning of the match, Manse was able to mix up our substitution game. Fortunately, our second striker is also reasonable, that’s how we got chances. However, this needs to be improved for the future.

Manse’s commander-in-chief Juhani Lehtimäki on the other hand, regretted mistakes.

– We gave the kind of runs from the flipper that can’t get any better in Vimpel, that was the decision of the match. We simply don’t deserve to win if the flipper doesn’t last. For some reason, the team was surprisingly nervous, which did not allow victory.

The three-point situations of the match went to Vimpel 15–12.
