Viljami Javanainen 16 is chasing the Finnish leg squat record

Experienced Viljami Javanainen is a straightforward young man. The goal is to be the best powerlifter in the age group already at next summer’s World Championships. On the way, he plans to squat the Finnish record.

Eight sunken 20-kilogram plate weights slide onto the bar and ten more discs at the end.

It’s exciting for the youth, there haven’t been any big weights in the tango for six weeks.

16-year-old Viljami Javanese woman squatted a record 192.5 kilograms in his first World Championships in August.

Now there are 200 kilos on the bar. The Javanese woman representing Pori’s gymnasts takes a deep breath and positions herself under the bar, a couple of steps back and into a squat.

After a clean set of squats, the Javanese woman thanks her sponsors and walks off to the side with a tear in her eye.

– My knee hurts.

We aim for the top of the world with the power of youth

A Javanese woman who used to play floorball started strength training a little over a year ago. The level of results rose quickly and from last winter’s games, the youngster grabbed the SM silver in both bench and powerlifting.

During the next year, he aims for both Finnish records and the world championship of his age and weight class.

– I was born to win. I’m not going to the games to try.

In just over a year, the results have developed rapidly on their own. This summer, he asked for a hot 18-year-old Julius Lankilan as a coach. Lankila currently has twenty people to coach and he also competes in powerlifting himself.

– The guy has been seen deadlifting more than three hundred kilos, Javanainen says about his coach.

Achieving the goals requires not only a drastic improvement in results but also staying healthy. The knee that took a hit in floor bandy sometimes wobbles during big lifts.

– Something happened there. The muscles now tend to pull the knee up all the time. It causes pain and weakens the thigh, the Javanese messaged after the photoshoot.

The goals are tough, but achievable

On the first weekend of November, Viljami Javanainen will participate in the open competitions for students in Tampere. The goal is to raise the SE numbers of the leg squat to 217.5 kg, despite a slight knee injury a couple of weeks before the competition.

– Based on the current condition, the Finnish record is almost certain to come, Javanainen says.

The goal is to improve next year as well Anton Nykänen bench press record in your name. This would mean improving the bench record by as much as 32.5 kilograms to 162.5.

– There is work to be done, but I have been able to do it and so can Vikk if he stays healthy, commented coach Lankila.

He cites the ability to think for himself and listen when necessary as the strength of his coachee.

– He is a very talented lifter, Lankila says.

There is no sense of threat in the Javanese woman’s tough talk and goals. He respects the record holders and states that his most important goal in the next few years is to win Nykänen.

– He is my number one idol in Finland.
