Viktor Gyökere’s phenomenal goalscoring form continues.
The national team striker scored one of Sporting Lisbon’s goals in the 2-0 win against Lille in the opening match of the Champions League.
– Feels wonderful. A dream for me to play here and to start like this. It can hardly get better, he says.
Viktor Gyökeres has now scored in eight straight games this season. Tonight’s goal at the Estádio José Alvalade was his twelfth since early August and the first of his career in the tournament.
– We were a bit shaky at the beginning, but created a couple of good chances and I managed to score a goal, says Gyökeres to Viaplay.
Gyökere’s success
He scored three of the national team’s goals in recent Nations League wins against Azerbaijan (4–1) and Estonia (3–0).
In the league, he has eight goals in five games.
In other words, it’s no wonder that Sporting set a sky-high buyout clause. Around 1.1 billion Swedish kronor is the price tag for the club that wants to sign the 26-year-old. There is interest, but so far the amount has been discouraging.
Gyökeres would like to move on, but is in no rush.
– I can’t complain about anything and it’s absolutely no problem for me to stay. It is clear that you are aiming for other leagues and to reach a higher level, but I have no stress, he said in connection with the national team meeting.

Liverpool’s players and leaders wore mourning bands after a traveling supporter died in a traffic accident earlier in the day. So far a sad birthday for the club’s manager Arne Castle. It would be more fun.
Ibrahima Konaté nodded in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s posts to 1-1 and shortly before half-time it was Virgil van Dijk’s luck to successfully use the pan on Konstantinos Tsimikas corner.
Liverpool won 3–1.
Goal celebration for Kane
Harry Kane accounted for a hat-trick of penalties and a game goal as Bayern Munich demolished Dinamo Zagreb with a slightly unbelievable 9–2 at home.
