400 meter hurdles Viivi Lehikoinen has run a new record of 54.96 in the race in Geneva, Switzerland. Lehikoinen won the competition by 40 hundredths.
The 22-year-old Finnish runner improved his previous record by 46 hundredths. At the same time, Lehikoinen broke the 55.40 goal limit at the Eugene World Championships. He had already broken the European Championship limit in the past.
He overtook the second in the statistics of all time through Finland Petra Söderström. Tuija Helander The SE time in 1987 was 54.62.
Lehikoinen is ranked seventh in European statistics this season. Lehikoinen’s bet raises expectations, especially for the European Championships in August. In the European Championships four years ago, 55.75 was enough for the finals.
