Thousands of people have participated in demonstrations in support of the Palestinians over the weekend ahead of the anniversary tomorrow, Monday.
The Palestinian extremist organization Hamas carried out a devastating terrorist attack on a youth festival on October 7th a year ago. As a result of the attack, Israel began the ongoing war in Gaza.
The anniversary is remembered all over the world.
In Rome, a peaceful demonstration turned into a stampede when a small group of activists threw stones and bottles at the police. The police responded with tear gas and water cannons. At least 30 police officers and three protesters were injured in the clash.
In London, a demonstration near the prime minister’s official residence was organized under strict police supervision. Seventeen protesters who violated the restrictions were arrested.
There were about a thousand people on the move in Hamburg.
Demonstrations were organized in many cities also in Africa and Asia. Demonstrators have been on the move, for example, in South Africa’s Johannesburg and the Philippines’ capital, Manila, and Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta.
