Video clips are ruled as evidence of the hospital rocket

A high-profile video has been cited as part of the evidence that it was a Palestinian rocket that caused an explosion at a hospital in Gaza.
But an analysis from The New York Times points out that it was a different rocket that was seen in the video.
– But it must be in our backbone that there is an intense information war going on from all sides right now, says TV4 Nyhetern’s Middle East correspondent Terese Cristiansson.

It is still unclear what caused the explosion at a hospital in Gaza on October 17. Israel and the United States have made the assessment that it was an outdated Palestinian rocket from Gaza that struck, among other things with reference to the media company Al Jazeera’s live broadcast.

The video shows a projectile moving across the dark sky over Gaza before exploding. A few seconds later, an explosion is also seen on the ground.

Detonated several kilometers from the hospital

But an analysis from The New York Times questioning the clip as evidence. The rocket in the video is probably not the one that caused the explosion at the hospital, writes the American newspaper, which states that the rocket detonated several kilometers from the hospital.

TV4 Nyheternas Middle East correspondent Terese Cristiansson comments on the information from the newspaper.

– All the uncertainties clearly show once again how important it is to have independent investigations in place, which is getting late. But it must be in our spinal cord that there is an intense information war going on from all sides right now, she says.

The analysis does not provide an answer to what caused the explosion at the hospital or who is responsible. But it calls into question one of the pieces of evidence most often invoked by the Israeli side, the newspaper writes.

Terrorist Hamas, which rules Gaza, has blamed Israel for the explosion.
