Victory for Finland – after a nightmare start

Despite goalkeeper Emil Larmi’s save on Florian Chakiachvili’s loose shot from the corner, the home team won 5–3.

But it was even until the end.

It was only when Sakari Manninen made it 5-3 in an empty net with 1.02 left to play that Finland secured the victory.

Finland has started the Ice Hockey World Cup with wins against Germany and France, losses against Tre Kronor, after penalties, and the USA.

In Canada’s 5–1 win over Kazakhstan, in Group B, Lawson Crouse accounted for two of the goals as full points were essentially secured in the first 20 minutes of the game.

The 25-year-old, who plays for NHL team Arizona, scored 2–0 and 3–0 in the period that Canada won by a whopping 4–1.
