There was only a week’s rest for Henrik von Eckermann after the WC success as the Global Champions competitions had moved on to London.

The Swedish world number one, who took WC gold in both team jumping and individual jumping in Herning last week, started Saturday in the best way.

Henrik von Eckermann had left the WC gold horse King Edward at home and on Hollywood V he was faultless and fastest of all 46 riders in the team competition of the Global Champions League (GCL) second round in London – and the team won the class individually.

He represented Scandinavian Vikings together with Evelina Tovek, but when von Eckermann had four mistakes in Friday’s GCL round and Tovek eight mistakes on Saturday, the duo ended up together in eighth place in the team competition. The Global Champions League competition was won by the Berlin Eagles with Christian Kukuk and Philipp Weisshaupt.

Henrik von Eckermann and Hollywood V were last out later in the evening when it was time for the Global Champions Tour individual GP show jumping.

But it didn’t work out there, von Eckermann and Hollywood V had two strokes, ended up on eight faults and finished in 21st place.

The other Swedish element of the GP show jumping, Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli, was 22nd on the horse Kalinka van de Nachtegaele – she too with eight faults.

Six jumpers made it to the jump-off, and in the end the Belgian Pieter Devos was the winner.
