Last year, Victor Hedman was featured in a celebrated TV commercial.
Now the NHL player reveals a few things about the recording.
– It has been extremely fun, Hedman says to Expressen.
It was in October last year that a commercial with Victor Hedman and Steve Stamkos in the lead debuted on North American television. In it, Hedman is seen standing with a roughly six-month-old baby in a harness on his chest, and is asked if his son has shown any hockey talent yet.
Praised the advertisement
Considering that the child can’t walk yet, Hedman answers no, while you can see Steven Stamko’s little son tricking the bigger and older opponents in the stands.
– Hmm, I guess hockey is not for everyone…, says Stamkos in the commercial.

The commercial was praised by viewers, fellow players and supporters. Something that reached Hedman.
– It has been extremely fun. We have received such great feedback from players and fans. It turned out really well without us having to do a lot of retakes. The replicas weren’t very many, so they were in the spinal cord after half an hour, he tells Expressen.
Hedman reveals the secret
In the ad, the two children portray the sons of Tampa Bay players. But Hedman now reveals that none of the children were actually connected to the players.
– Two different babies were used. After all, there are regulations for how long such young children can be in front of the camera. It was the same with the older boy who represented Stamko’s child, it wasn’t Steven’s own son.

The Swede was asked to be in the commercial by the players’ union NHLPA, and it was recorded in favor of the insurance company MassMutual. If you get paid even if it was at the request of the players’ union?
– You get that, says Hedman to the evening newspaper.
