The incident took place on the Heemsteedekanaaldijk, near the bicycle bridge over the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal at the Plofsluis. The stabbing was preceded by a conflict with two other people. Afterwards, the police searched the area for these two suspects, but they were not found.
