Having a pet is not cheap, it should have food, grooming products, toys and other necessities. In addition to that, it is good to have insurance in case the animal gets sick or has an accident. But even if you have insurance, your visit to the vet can be an expensive story. In recent times, more and more pet owners have testified about increased veterinary costs around the country.
Swedish veterinary care is a billion-dollar industry led by the giants Evidensia and Anicura. The company Evidensia had a turnover of SEK 1.8 billion in 2022. That is an increase of SEK 285 million compared to the previous year.

Harsh criticism of Evidensia’s high prices
Evidensia has received harsh criticism from pet owners who think their prices have skyrocketed and become too high.
Nyheter24 has previously spoken to the animal owner Lena Thurang which have reacted to the high prices.
– I think the big problem is that there is very little competition in the market. There are two large companies to choose from, Anicura and Evidensia. It could have looked different if there had not been two large profit-making companies in charge, Thurang told Nyheter24 at the time.
