Former Minister Andrey Kozyrev claimed that Putin could be overthrown by a coup d’etat inside the Kremlin. According to Kozyrev, key figures in the Kremlin may be plotting Putin’s overthrow.
Kozyrev, who served as a minister between 1990 and 1996, stated that Putin could be overthrown and dragged “to the grave or to retirement, accompanied by an armed escort”.
The reason behind this thought of Kozyrev is that Russian forces are dragged into a deadlock in Ukraine and Russia is left alone as a result of sanctions.
According to the Daily Express report, Kozyrev said:
“Many Russian tsars were killed. Many were dismissed in one way or another. Even in the Soviet Union there were rumors that Stalin had been poisoned, Khrushchev was escorted out of the Kremlin.
As for Putin, I believe the growing resistance and discontent will somehow be resolved. I don’t know how, but the history of Russia is full of unexpected consequences.”
Speaking about Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, Kozyrev said, “While it is scary, it is not unreasonable. We have to put ourselves in his shoes to understand why the invasion made sense to Putin.”
Kozyrev, who lives in the USA, thinks that Putin is not crazy, he is simply wrong and immoral.
