Riksdag member Kjell Jansson (M) is suspected of buying sex and is taking time out from his political mission. Now Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is commenting on the incident. – These are very serious allegations, we take them very seriously, says the Prime Minister during a press conference. In December 2022, Kjell Jansson had sex with a 25-year-old woman in his overnight apartment, according to the indictment. Before they separated, Jansson gave the woman 5,000 kroner, according to himself, because she asked for money for a taxi and help with the rent. The woman took a picture from the occasion, which she then allegedly used to blackmail Kjell Jansson over several months. Now the moderate Member of Parliament has taken a time-out from his political commitments while waiting for the verdict. The Prime Minister: “Very serious allegations” During a press conference on the government’s subsidy reform, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson spoke about the allegations against Kjell Jansson. – These are very serious allegations that I neither can nor want to comment on in themselves. Kristersson says that the Moderates are putting a lot of effort into making sure he is in good hands. – You have to make sure that a person who finds himself in such a situation and needs support around him also gets it, says the prime minister. Ulf Kristersson assesses that the situation Kjell Jansson is in is a security risk. – We intend to follow the existing regulations. The Minister of Justice considers it appropriate The Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) has also commented on the accusations. – As far as I know, the information is subject to legal review and before that is clear it is difficult to say anything more concrete. I have noted that the Member of Parliament has taken a timeout while this is going on and it seems appropriate, says Strömmer to TV4’s Per Hermanrud in Nyhetsmorgon.
