The Canadian Hockey Association says it will carry out an external evaluation of its administrative structures and operating methods.

– The accusations presented in the media are very disturbing and completely unbearable. All the facts surrounding this terrible situation must come out. We demand a transparent investigation, the letter reads.

– After the truth came out, the union must take the necessary measures so that this never happens again.

The Canadian Ice Hockey Federation Hockey Canada published on Monday action plan (you will switch to another service)which it describes as an important first step in eradicating outrageous and harmful behavior from and outside the puck rinks.

In addition, the union opens a confidential system, which can be used to report abuses.

The association used its membership fee income for settlement costs

In the spring, TSN reported about a 24-year-old woman who had filed a lawsuit against the players, the Canadian Hockey Association and the CHL junior league. According to the woman, she was sexually abused in the summer of 2018.

According to the allegations, the players gave the woman several alcoholic drinks and persuaded her to perform many sexual acts. They also slapped him and spat on him. When the woman tried to leave the room, she was threatened. The plaintiff demanded more than 3.5 million Canadian dollars in compensation.

The Canadian Ice Hockey Federation has said it has reopened the investigation into the 2018 incident. Several NHL players who were in the youth national team at the time have publicly denied being involved in the events.
